Matthew stiffens when Prussia slides into the empty seat next to him. He props his chin in his hands, a crooked grin lighting up his features. He leans forward. Matthew ignores him.

“How have you been, kid?” He asks, tone light, eyes dark.

Matthew keeps ignoring him, taking a long sip of his beer, eyes forward. He runs his thumb across the rim of the bottle when he sets it down, already planning to get the bartender’s attention.

“You forget how to speak?”

“You forget how to shut up?”

“So Arthur didn’t beat that out of you.”

Matthew stills, about to take another sip. Smoothly, before he does, he says, “I don’t think Ivan beat you enough.” It’s petty and harsh but he doesn’t like the way Prussia’s grinning at him, with too much teeth, too much in Matthew’s space. “What are you even doing here?
